Can a Lippert 1716 Pin Box be Replaced with a Lippert 1116 Pin Box

Question:

I have a ford f350 2013 short bed, i have a 2010 montana 3750fl 5th wheel I have a 4100 superglide hitch, my rv has a lippert 1716 long pin box. Can I change the pin box to a 1116 lippert medium pin box so that it will not hit the sides. Thanks

No, you won't be able to replace a Lippert 1716 pin box with a Lippert 1116. The issue is that the 1116 uses a third row of bolt holes that are likely not present on the wings on the trailer the pin box attaches to. You could take off the pin box you have to see if the center row of bolt holes is there though.

Then you would have to contact the trailer manufacturer and/or Lippert to make sure it is ok to switch pin boxes. Please note that changing the length of the pin box will move the trailer closer to the truck and will also decrease the turning clearance.
