Is Plug-In Wiring Adapter For Brake Controller Required For 2014 Ford F-150 With Tow Package

As you undoubtedly know, Ford trucks equipped with the towing package come with a trailer brake wiring harness. Can I just use Fords wiring harness and buy the much cheaper P2 brake controller without the wiring harness? Thank you

The Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake controller, part # 90885 is one of our most popular controllers we offer because it is so easy to install and use. This controller will work well for your 2014 Ford F-150.

You stated that you have the trailer brake wiring harness on your F-150. Your truck may have come with a harness that plugs into the vehicle end, but probably has 4 wires that need to be attached to the harness that comes with the brake controller.

I recommend you use a plug-in adapter like the Tow Ready Plug-In Wiring Adapter, part # 22292. I have attached a photo of the harness that shows what the plugs look like. The # 22292 is very reasonably priced and makes it much easier when installing a brake controller.
