Hitch And Bike Rack Recommendation For 2008 Mini Cooper
Question:
I have a mini cooper 2008, what product would work for me? I was thinking for a bike rack mostly. Secondly, in your experience who can I get to install this? dealer? auto body shop? Thank you for your time.

For a trailer hitch on your 2008 Mini Cooper, we will need to know the model of your vehicle.
The 3 hitches we offer that are designed to fit a Mini Cooper are all Class l hitches and have 1-1/4 inch receiver openings. When using a Class l hitch, you will be limited to carrying 2 bikes.
If you have the S Series, except a Convertible, the hitch you need is part # C11130.
If you have a hardtop with a single exhaust, except the S Series, the hitch you need is part # C11160.
If you have a convertible, and it is not the S series, the hitch you need is part # C11126.
For installation, you can normally find a local mechanic or garage. They will usually have all the tools needed to install a hitch for you.
If you are planning on using the hitch for a bike rack I recommend the Swagman Trailhead 2 Bike Rack, part # S63360. This hitch can carry 2 bikes and has a tilting feature, allowing you access to the rear cargo area when unloaded. I have attached a link to a product review video for this bike carrier you can check out.
If you are planning on carrying bikes with alternative frames like kids bikes or women's bikes, I recommend using an adapter bar like part # 64005. This attaches between the handlebar stem and the seat post and allows the bike to be more level in the carrier while providing additional ground clearance. I have attached a product review video for the adapter bar.
