Troubleshooting Curt Trailer Wiring Harness Install on a 2000 Nissan Xterra
Question:
I followed the directions to the letter with no results. Thought it might be a bad ground since nothing worked, checked it, it was good. I also have a red wire with now where to attach it. Took all the wires off and re-wired without the converter, and nothing. I have spent two days at this project and am very frustrated. What ever happened to the old splice into the existing wires and done.......Ive done that may times. Im not a complete idiot but this has me going...please help!

The red wire of the Wiring Harness part # C56496 that you referenced should be run to the brake light circuit of your 2000 Nissan Xterra. If you are missing that connection I would recommend you verify that the other wires are securely connected to the correct circuits. Especially the black wire that needs to run to the positive terminal of your vehicle battery. If this connection isn't made, or the fuse isn't installed in the fuse holder the converter will not work.
I attached an install video that will show how this harness will install on a similar vehicle, I hope it will help you figure out why your harness isn't working.
