How to Install a Trailer Brake Controller on a 2014 Chevy Silverado 1500
Question:
I have a 2014 Silverado 1500 and it comes with a manufacturers hardness for electric brake controller, one end plugs in the box underneath the dashboard and the other end is loose-end with four wires. Do You have a Generic Wiring Diagram for such vehicle? If so, please kindly provide a diagram so I can wire my Tekonsha-3 properly. Thanks so much for your assistance.

The factory wiring harness that came with your 2014 Chevy Silverado 1500 should have the functions listed on it. The OEM harness wire with constant 12 volts attaches to the black wire of the controller. The wire that shows voltage when the brake pedal is pressed connects to the red wire on the controller. The wire that shows continuity with the brake pin on the 7-way would connect to the blue brake controller wire. The remaining wire would connect to the white ground wire on the controller.
On the brake controller the white wire is ground, black is 12-volt power, red is input from the stop light switch, and blue is output to the trailer brakes.
I tried to find the harness online but was not successful. If the wiring on the factory harness is not labeled, then you can test the wires with a circuit tester such as # PTW2993. Or you could use the Tekonsha harness # 3016.
