Hitch and Easy to Load Bike Rack For 2002 Subaru Forester
Question:
I have a 2002 Subaru Forester. I have to carry two mountain bikes. My shoulder will not allow me to put the bikes on the roof of the car. Is there a rack mount for the Forester? I have been taking the wheel off and putting inside. Rather not do this.

For your 2002 Subaru Forester, I recommend having a hitch installed and then a platform-style bike rack. A platform-style rack would be much easier to load and unload, and many customers use them because it is many times difficult to reach the top of a vehicle to secure bikes.
The hitch I recommend for your Forester is the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch, part # 36311. This is a Class ll hitch and has a 1-1/4 inch receiver opening.
I recommend the Kuat Transfer, part # KU74FR, for you. It'll fit the Forester's 1-1/4 inch hitch and hold your mountain bikes by the wheels. One of the best featuers of the Sitkka is how it's designed with no trays running across the rack so you can stand sort of inside the rack making it eaier to load the bike closest to the car.
