How Rhino Rack # DK227 Clamp Kit Attaches to Roof of 2008 Chevy Silverado
Question:
I am looking at a rhino roof rack for my 2008 Silverado extended cab pick-up truck. It looks like part of the system would be a DK227 Clamps and pads kit. I looked at my truck and the only think to grab hold of would be the attached drip molding. Does the DK227 clamp go over the drip molding? If so does water leak in when the rack is installed? What is the long term effect of squashing the molding? Do you have photos of the clamp on an installed rack attached to a Silverado?

The Rhino Rack # DK227 clamp kit fits over the rubber trim at the top of the door jamb. Other than putting holes in the roof of the vehicle, this is the usual way of installing a roof rack that works very well. I haven't heard any reports of leakage or damage to the door gaskets.
I don't have any photos available, but if you click the provided link you can see an install video showing the clamp kit being used on a Chevy Silverado.
