Installing a Brake Controller on a 1999 GMC Yukon Old Body Style with Towing Package

Question:

this car has the wiring installed and I have a trailer connector already installed round 7 wire. I have purchased a Primus brake controller but am having trouble finding the wires under the dash or under the hood to hook up to the controller. The wires are at the back of the car no problem there. I also tried an additional wiring adapter supposedly for my year that would plug into the car under the dash and into the controller but couldnt find the socket to plug it into. So far the videos available dont show my cars fuse blocks. How should I go about wiring this controller?

There is not a connector available under the hood of your vehicle to connect a brake controller to. The easiest way to install a brake controller is to use a Universal Brake Control Wiring Kit, item # 5506, which includes the wire, breaker and connectors to install an electric brake controller. The original wiring that is ran on your vehicle is very hard to access and it is much easier to run the wires on this vehicle yourself. If you need to run a power wire to the trailer connector you will also need a 40 amp circuit breaker, item # PK54540, to run a 10 gauge wire from the positive post of the vehicle battery. I have posted instructions for installing the brake controller wiring kit below.
