Recommended Components For Flat-Towing 2003 Honda Odyssey
Question:
I was looking at the Roadmaster Stowmaster RM 501 tow bar. Will it work with the baseplate needed for a 2003 Honda Odyssey?

For your 2003 Honda Odyssey, I recommend the Roadmaster Base Plates, part # 521551-1. These base plates will fit your Odyssey whether it has the tow package transmission cooler or not. Some trimming of the spoiler or fascia may be required when installing these base plates.
The tow bar you asked about, part # RM-501, will work well with the # 521551-1 base plates. I have attached a link to a product review video for this tow bar you can check out.
Along with the base plates and tow bar, there are 3 more items that are needed to safely flat-tow your Odyssey.
I recommend the RoadMaster Single Hook Safety Cables, part # RM-643. These are 68 inches in length and have a 6,000 lb weight capacity, and feature steel hooks with spring loaded latches for additional security. I have attached a product review video of these safety chains for you.
The towing lights I recommend are the Magnetic LED Tow Lights, part # TLL21RK. These lights do not require splicing into the Odyssey wiring.
Since most states not require a supplemental braking system when you are towing a vehicle, I recommend the SMI Tow Bar Braking System, part # SM99251. This is a one-time setup so there is no need to activate the system each time you tow.
I have attached some helpful articles about flat-towing you may want to take a look at.
