When selecting a weight distribution system for your 1999 Dutchman 27 Ft Trailer, you will need to know a couple of things. The gross weight of the trailer in its fully loaded ready-to-tow condition, and the tongue weight which is the tongue weight of the fully loaded trailer added to the weight of any cargo placed behind the rear axle of the towing vehicle. I have attached a couple of articles about weight distribution and how to determine tongue weight you can check out.
For a weight distribution system based on the gross weight of 7,700 lbs as you stated, I would recommend the Reese Steadi-Flex Weight Distribution w Sway Control, part # RP66560. This system is designed to be able to handle tongue weights between 600 and 1,200 lbs, which is where 10 to 15 percent of your loaded trailer weight falls. This system also features integrated friction pads on the spring-bar hangers to prevent trailer sway.
If you find that your tongue weight does not fall within the 10 to 15 percent range, just let me know what your tongue weight is and I will be happy to make a recommendation that will work for you.
The Steadi-Flex does not include a hitch ball. Use # 19286 for a 2-5/16 inch or # A-90 for a 2 inch ball.
