Replacement Trunnion Bar Recommendation for a Setup with 833 Dry Tongue Weight
Question:
I have an older Reese WD trailer with the 11/8 inch trunnion bars. the weight rating on the bars are strait line 750#. I am purchasing a new travel trailer with a hitch weight of 833#. This will near the actual hitch weight as I do not carry any load behind the rear axle of the towing vehicle. Will these bars suffice in handling the hitch weight of should I upgrade. I do not want to go to 1200# bars, but I cannot seem to find older 1000# bars. 3

The only size available that I could safely recommend for you would be the 1,200 lb trunnion bars like part # RP66009. Using bars that are rated too low for the tongue weight of a setup will prevent the system from doing anything.
The 1,200 lb bars would not be too harsh as long as you have the system setup up properly for them. You also will need to consider any weight from cargo in your trailer. This should put your loaded tongue weigh more in the middle of the # RP66009 range.
I attached an FAQ on WD systems for you to check out as well.
