Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Brake Controller # 90195 Troubleshooting in 2007 GMC Sierra
Question:
I recently installed a Tekonsha P3 brake controller in my 2007 GMC Sierra truck max package. Turned they key on and went through settings. I hooked up my tandem axle trailer and the controller indicated no connection. I connected to a friends trailer camper and all of the sudden the controller went dark as if no power. Ive been searching for a blow fuse but havent found one yet. Any help? Any installation videos for my truck? Thanks.

It sounds like there may be two separate issues in play. The no connection message indicates that the P3 is getting power but cannot recognize the trailer brake circuit. Carefully check both the outside and inside of the vehicle and trailer-side connectors for any signs of corrosion. It can happen that corrosion within one of the connectors can bridge two circuits together; this can cause the controller to fail to detect the trailer's brake circuit. It could also lead to a blown fuse. Check the center high-mount stop light fuse (CHMSL) in case this has blown.
Since your truck does not have an under-dash port your hardwired installation will use the wires under the dash. The linked article covers the install process in detail and includes photos. There are also connections to be made under the hood in the power distribution box
The linked video shows installation of a Tekonsha P3 # 90195 in a 2008 Silverado, which will be very similar to your install.
