Options for Carrying 3 Bikes on 2010 BMW X5

Would the Thule gateway pro 3 be the best choice for my 2010 BMW X5? Do you have many issues with scratching? What is the equivalent in a hitch mount? Is the hitch mount easily removable?

We have several trunk mount bike racks for 3 bikes that will work on your 2010 BMW X5. I have included a link to them for you to review. Since your 2010 BMW X5 has a rear spoiler, the best option is the Hollywood Racks Over-the-Top 3 Bike Carrier, part # HRF2-3. The bike rack is specifically designed for vehicles with spoilers. It has rubber coated clips which will protect your vehicle from scratches.

If you will be transporting women's or childrens' bikes you will need a bike adapter bar for it. I recommend part # HRBA-PRO.

We do have trailer hitches that are a confirmed fit for your BMW X5, though installing and removing the hitch when not in use is not very practical.

If, however, you decide to do this, I recommend the Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 75600. The average install time on the hitch is 1:30, and requires temporary removal of the bumper during installation, so you will want to take that into account. Subsequent installation times will be less since you will not have to repeat the fascia trimming.
