Adjusting Power Output on Tekonsha Primus Brake Controller for Less Aggressive Trailer Brakes
Question:
The unit was fitted to my new vehicle. On current settings they are to aggressive. No operators manual was with the vehicle. Can I obtain one on this site.

Yes, I have linked the instructions for the Primus brake controller # TK90160 to the right. The blue wheel on the left side of the front of the controller is the power wheel. Roll it towards the front of the vehicle for more power and roll it towards the rear of the vehicle for less power.
To get the proper braking for a given trailer you will set the controller to the medium setting power output level. Then in an empty flat parking lot tow the trailer up to 25 miles per hour. Then using the manual override only on the controller (not the brake pedal) fully apply the manual override.
If the wheels on the trailer lock up then adjust the power down. If they do not lock up then adjust the power higher. You want the power set just under trailer wheel lockup.
