Roof Rack Recommendation for a 2003 Hyundai Accent 2-Door for Kayak and Bike Carriers

Question:

Hello, I need a roof rack for my Accent, which happens to be a two door style body. I intend to use it for transporting kayaks and maybe even a bike as well. I was wondering if these parts were designed to carry such loads, if they require more hardware to transport them, and if they are compatible with any other aftermarket roof rack systems. If you could point out the exact pieces i would need to purchase in order to accomplish this i would appreciate it.

The Yakima Q Tower roof rack will fit your 2003 Hyundai Accent 2-door model and it will support a kayak carrier and a bike rack. Most kayak carriers require a minimum crossbar spread of 24 inches and this roof rack will have a crossbar spread of 28 inches once it is installed. The crossbar spread is the distance between the front and rear crossbar on center. The parts that you will need for the complete roof rack are listed below.

Inno Square Crossbars - Steel - Black - 46" Long - Qty 2 # INB117
Inno Feet # INSUT
Short Roof Adapter Kit # INJK
Custom Fit Kit # INK227

According to Inno, this roof rack will have a weight capacity of 140 lbs on your vehicle, but I recommend checking your owners manual or contacting your local Hyundai dealer with your VIN to verify the roof weight capacity.

The Inno square crossbars are compatible with most roof mounted accessories. For a kayak carrier, I prefer the J-style carriers like the Yakima BowDown, # Y04042. They make loading and securing a kayak fast and easy and they allow room for another accessory such as a bike rack. I have attached links to all of our roof mounted bike racks and kayak carriers for you to check out.
