Parts Recommendation to Convert a 4-Way on a 2002 Toyota 4Runner to a 7-Way
Question:
Im a noob and Im getting ready to head cross country to pick up a new to me 2003 Chalet Alpine that I have been told has a 7pin round connector and electric trailer brakes. I have a 2002 Toyota 4runner with factory 4 pin utility wiring and hitch. I have never towed a camper before, so any help would really be appreciated. Should I buy the parts now and have them installed when I reach my destination in a few days or attempt it before I leave. Ive only wired for basic utility trailer. thanks

You are going to need two things before you can tow your new trailer and I would recommend you install them before you head down there.
First, to convert the 4-way of your 2002 4Runner to a 7-way and allow you to install a brake controller you will want the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7. I attached an install video and installation instructions for you to check out as well.
For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup.
