Should Factory-Integrated Brake Controller Be Replaced On 2009 GMC Sierra
Question:
Is there a need to replace the integrated with an after market control? Is the integrated not dependable? My truck is a 2009 GMC Duramax. Thanks

If the controller you have installed on you 2009 GMC Sierra is not working properly, then yes I would recommend replacing it with a new brake controller like the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 brake controller, part # 90885. The P2 controller is our most popular since it is so easy to install and use. The biggest issue with the GM installed controllers is that they do not work with electric-over-hydraulic brakes.
I have attached a helpful article that explains how to install an aftermarket brake controller on an 07-13 Gm full size truck that has the factory-integrated brake control you can check out.
