7-Way Connector Wiring For 2011 Ford F-150 XLT For Brake Controller
Question:
We purchased a 2011 Ford F150 XLT Truck with no factory installed tow package. We had installed an after market tow hitch and 7 pin connector, 3 pins are not wired. Do the electric brake and the 12 V battery charge pins have to be wired? when we follow the steps to pair the remote controller we always get a n.c. after the P.A. we do not get 0.0 for the pairing

You are correct that the pins that are not connected are causing the issues. I have attached a photo of a 7-way connector that is on the vehicle side. This shows what the pins on the connector are to be wired to. I have also attached a helpful article that explains trailer wiring and shows what each of the functions are on the connectors for both the vehicle and the trailer you can check out.
There are a couple of help articles that explains brake controllers attached as well.
