Suspension Enhancement for a 2010 Toyota Tacoma 4x4
Question:
Currently have the 2 + 1 leaves in the rear. Very wimpy when challenged with any load. Currently the unloaded clearance is 5inch to 5 1/4inch from top surface of spring to frame bumper bracket. The truck is unloaded the vast majority of time, but Id like to have better load capacity when needed. Im looking at the Timbren kit, but would like advise on that versus heavier springs.

Heavier springs are going to create a stiffer ride all the time and not just when there is a load in the truck. Adding Timbren springs to your 2010 Toyota Tacoma will pretty much keep the unloaded ride the same and then offer support and improve the ride when under load. Timbren springs # TTORTUN4L would be the way to go.
If you need to level the bed side to side as well because you carry different loads all the time, air bags may work better for you. You could use Firestone Ride-Rite kit # F2407. This system offers more adjustability since you can add or remove air pressure from each bag with an external air compressor or an on board one using Level Command kit # F2178.
I have included some links on Timbren springs and Firestone kits for you to view as well as a link to a video showing the Firestone kit being installed.
