Can the Surco Folding Basket Adapter # 52015 Be Used on the Carpod Carrier # M2200
Question:
I have a Carpod Carrier 2200 that I will be using on my 2004 Lazy Daze RV. I do not have access to the vehicle and would like to know what size hitch extender I would need for the tire clearance. Also, is the Surco folding basket adapter, #52015, compatible with the Carpod carrier? Thank you.

In order to determine what size hitch extender that is needed for tire clearance on your RV, you will have to gain access to the vehicle to take a measurement. I have included an article that demonstrates how to take this clearance measurement. The article references bike racks but the measurement process is the same. Measuring is the only way to ensure that you will have the correct clearance information. Once you have this measurement, I would be happy to help you find a part that would work for you.
Surco states that the Folding Basket Adapter, # 52015, will work with any manufacturer's 2 inch hitch basket rack. We have found that it works best on the Curt Cargo Carrier # C18150, but have not tested it with the Carpod carriers.
After going over all of this with my contact at Carpod, his concern is that you may not have sufficient ground clearance while using the 23 x 47 Carpod Walled Carrier, # M2200, if you are on an uneven surface. The further the carrier sits off of the back of the RV the greater the chance of having difficulty.
Although using hitch extenders and folding adapters will work on an RV, we do not recommend using them. An RV already has a lot of bounce in the back and by adding an extender or adapter it would just increase this.
