Question:
2013 Honda odyssey with trailer harness part # 118521. Both the brake lights and the blinkers work on the trailer. The taillights or running lights dont . I put a tester on the harness that confirms there is no power coming from the vehicle. All fuses related to harness replaced. What else could be killing the power coming from the vehicle?

The first thing you'll want to do is test the converter. You'll need a circuit tester like part # PTW2993. Turn the vehicle running lights on and test the brown wire entering the converter. Then, test the brown wire on the 4-pole, to see if there's power leaving the converter. If there's power going in, but not coming out, the converter is faulty, and should be replaced. Also, go ahead and duplicate the test you did on the connector with an incandescent tester. The LED testers aren't very reliable, as they might not draw enough power to get you a true result.
If there's no power entering the converter, then check to ensure that the connector that is plugged in at the fuse box is fully plugged in. Unplug the connector, and closely examine the pin that's connected to the brown wire, checking that it's not bent.
If you determine that the converter is faulty, before replacing it with a new one, be sure that the wiring on your trailer is in good shape. Check the running light circuit, which is usually carried by the brown wire. Trace that wire from the trailer connector down the length of the trailer to the running lamps, looking for pinched wires, broken wires, loose connections and cracked or worn wire insulation. Anything that's worn or loose that would allow the copper wire to short out on the trailer frame could short out the converter box.
