According to the owners manual for the 2014 Jeep Patriot in the recreational towing section, you can only flat tow the vehicle if it has a manual transmission. If it is an automatic it cannot be towed with all 4 wheels on the ground.

It can be towed on a tow dolly, such as # RM-2050-1, with the front axle on the dolly. This only works for front wheel drive models and would work with manual or automatics.

And of course, the third option is to tow the vehicle on a trailer with all 4 wheels off the ground.

If you have a manual transmission and wish to flat tow it then you will need base plates, a tow bar, safety cables, lighting, and supplemental braking.

For base plates you can use base plates # 521441-1. These only fit mode3ls with the manual transmission and without tow hooks. These base plates are compatible with the Falcon All-Terrain tow bar # RM-522 rated for 6,000 pounds.

For safety cables that are compatible with the tow bar use # RM-645.

For lighting, if you will not be towing the Patriot often, I recommend a magnetic light kit # RM-154. If you will be towing it often a more permanent solution is to use diode kit # 154-792-118158.

And finally, most states now require supplemental braking on the vehicle being flat towed. One of the easiest systems to set up and use is the Even Brake proportional system # RM-9400. It will apply the Patriot brakes in proportion to how much the tow vehicle is braking. This is the easiest way to stop and it reduces wear and tear on both vehicles.

Be sure to consult your Patriot owners manual for specific information on flat towing the vehicle. I have also included some helpful links to our series of help articles on flat towing for you.
