Will Aluminum Camper Shell be Strong Enough for a Rhino-Rack Roof Rack and Yakima Cargo Box

Question:

Will an aluminum camper shell be strong enough for this rack? Would be carrying an Yakima Skybox with lots of weight.

It all depends on the capacity of the aluminum camper shell. You would need to contact the camper shell manufacturer for the weight carrying capacity of the camper shell roof. Ideally you would put the tracks from Rhino-Rack roof rack # Y01-140B towards the edges of the roof where the camper shell is the strongest. Ultimately though it comes down to what the manufacturer of the camper shell says.

The roof rack itself is rated for 220 pounds but if the camper shell is rated lower then that is the capacity you have to go by. Also your Yakima SkyBox will have its own capacity. It you can tell me which SkyBox model you have and its approximate age I can determine its capacity as well.
