Hitch And Bike Carrier Recommendation For 2010 Mini Clubman
Question:
Hello, I see a lot of information on your website, but I am still not confident that I know what all is needed to mount a hitch bike rack on my 2010 Mini Clubman. Can you refer me to a product page and let me know what accessories are needed? Many thanks!

The first thing to consider when using a hitch-mounted bike carrier on your 2010 Mini Clubman, is the weight capacity of the vehicle. You can check the owners manual or with your dealership to find out what the tongue weight capacity is for your vehicle.
We offer one hitch that is designed to fit your Clubman. It is the Curt Trailer Hitch, part # C11387. This is a Class l hitch and has a 1-1/4 inch receiver opening. All non-trailer loads - bike racks, cargo carriers and so forth - should be supported with stabilizing straps. Failure to properly support these loads will void your hitch warranty from Curt.
You will then want to take a measurement to see what kind of clearance you will need for a bike carrier. I have attached a helpful article that shows how to measure to make sure you have the clearance needed to avoid contact with the back bumper of your Clubman.
If you find you have 5 inches or less distance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the back of the bumper, I recommend the Thule Camber, part # TH9058. This carrier will work with 1-1/4 and 2 inch receivers and has a tilting feature which allows you access to the rear or your Clubman when unloaded.
If you plan on carrying any bikes with alternative frames like kids bikes or women's bikes, I recommend using an adapter bar like part # TH982XT. This bar attaches between the handlebar stem and the seat post and lets you carry the bikes more level in the carrier while providing more ground clearance.
