Recommended Towing Lights in California for Small Trailer with 2014 Toyota Prius
Question:
I am looking for a magnetic tail light setup that acts as tail lights, brake lights, and turn signals. A kit that includes everything to set this up would be ideal. I am not sure how the mag lights usually work, do you need to wire a connector into the cars brake, turn, and tail circuits? is there another way? Sorry, totally new to this..

The magnetic towing kit you reference is designed for flat towed vehicles and should not be used for trailers. We do have standard trailer light kits like # TL29BK which use a 4 pole connector. I have included a video review of this kit that you can check out.
Despite the fact that there are trailer hitches made for the 2014 Toyota Prius, you will need to consult the owner's manual as to whether you can tow with the vehicle at all. You will also want to check your owner's manual or with a Toyota dealer for the gross towing weight capacity of your Prius to make sure the towing capacity is not exceeded. I don't think your Prius is going to have a very high towing weight capacity, or if you will even be able to tow with that vehicle.
I wouldn't recommend towing anything that will weigh more than what is listed as the maximum towing capacity on your Prius. Most of the trailer hitches designed for the Prius are used for bike racks or cargo carriers.
If you find that you can tow with your Prius you will need wiring harness kit # C59496. This will provide four pole connector to which you can hook up your trailer lights.
You should consult your state's laws and regulations to determine what its towing requirements are.
