Wiring 1984 Mazda Pickup to Tow Trailer With Separate Brake and Turn Signal Lights
Question:
Trying to hook up a utility trailer made from old pickup bed, to a pick up truck. Truck and trailer are both 1984 Mazda B2000s. They both use the 3 wire system using separate turn signal and brake bulbs. How do I do this? How many pin connector? Do I need a converter on at both ends?

Expert Reply:
The correct way to wire this up would be to use the Taillight Converter, part # 119178KIT. Wire this converter into the tail light circuits on the tow vehicle. The inputs would be wired into each lighting circuit, running lights, right turn, left turn, and brake lights. The converter includes a tester, which will make the installation easier.
On the trailer, you will need the Vehicle to Vehicle Tail Light Converter part # 118158, as well as the the trailer end connector, part # 18004.
