Brake Controller Installation Instructions for a 1997 Ford with Factory Tow Package and 4-Way

At the back of the truck it has a flat 4 wire conector whear does the wire from the electric brake go.

We have Instructions for the installation of a brake controller on the 1997 Ford F-150 and F-250 vehicles (see link). With a factory 4-Way installed you will need to use a Universal Brake Control Wiring Adapter Ford, Land Rover, Lincoln, Mercury, item # 3035-S, and a 7-Way or 6-Way connector that to attach to the trailer connector. The options for your truck are the Universal 7-Way connector, item # 30717, or 6-Way, item # A10-6034VP, or the factory 7-Way, item # 118242. Once you have these items installed your vehicle will be ready to tow a trailer with electric brakes.
