The hitch I recommend for your 2011 Ford escape is the Draw-Tite Class lll Trailer Hitch Receiver, part # 75751. This hitch has a 2 inch receiver and does not require trimming the fascia for installation. I have included an installation video of this hitch on a 2011 Ford Escape you can check out.
I also recommend the etrailer.com Ball Mount Kit, part # 989900. This includes 2 ball mounts, 2 hitch balls, the pin and clip, and a handy bag for storage. I have included a link to a product review for this kit as well.
If you plan on towing and do not have the factory tow package, I recommend the Tekonsha Wiring Harness, part # 118551. This is an easy to install harness that plugs into the factory connectors on your Escape. When working with wiring I also recommend using dielectric grease like part # 11755. This keeps dirt and moisture out of the wiring connections, and helps prevent corrosion.
