Replacement Brake Magnets Needed for a Rockwood 1640 LTD Trailer
Question:
I have a Rockwood 1640 LTD. The brake magnet wires have broken right at the magnets on both sides of the axle. It has 12inch wheels on it and they look like they are 8inch brake assemblies. Do you sell replacement magnets for these brakes?

We do sell replacement brake magnets, but we will need a little more information about your brakes before we can recommend the correct brake magnet. The easiest way to determine which magnet will work for you is by knowing the brake manufacturer and brake size.
We do not have brake magnets for 8 inch brake assemblies, but we do have a replacement brake magnet for Dexter 7 inch brake assemblies. It is part # BP01-068. I am not aware of any electric brake assemblies that are 8 inches, so I suspect you may have 7 inch brakes. This dimension is the diameter at the brake shoes (see photo). I recommend measuring your brakes to verify the actual size.
This is the only brake magnet that we offer for 7 inch electric brake assemblies and it was designed for Dexter brakes. If you can confirm that your brakes are Dexter brakes, then this magnet will work for you. If you have a different brand, let me know and I would be happy to see what options are available.
