Replacement Parts and Sway Control for Reese Weight Distribution System

Question:

Good evening, I just purchased an airstream with a GVWR of 8500 pounds. I have a Reese hitch and weight distribution bars model 6609. The hitch is capable of A tongue weight of 1000 or 1200 pounds depending on where I the pin. The trailer itself does NOT have the hook up brackets or the chains that are to be attached to the bars. I also do not have a sway control system I need the small trailer hitch ball as well as the actual sway control mechanism. Can you please direct me to the following products: 1 A compatible kit that includes a chain and hook up brackets comparable with my Reese 66009 bars as well as the hitch referenced above. 2 A sway control systemI am assuming a sweet control bar, That includes the small ball that is needed on the Reese hitch there is a small ball on the actual trailer. Also, please advise if there is some sort of combination sway control AND hook up brackets for the weight distribution system that you recommend, or if these items need to be purchased separately. Also, can you reference the instructions for me installing these items myself? Thank you!!

When you say your Airstream trailer has a GVWR of 8,500, I assume you mean GTW or gross trailer weight. Typically a trailer's tongue weight is about 10 to 15 percent of the GTW. Based on your trailer's GTW, your tongue weight should be around 850 lbs. If so, the trunnion bars you have (rated for a tongue weight of 600 lbs. - 1,200 lbs.) will work for you. There is no kit containing all the parts you need, however you can purchase them separately. You will need the lift brackets with handle # RP6637, the adjustable head assembly # RP58167, the replacement chain kit for uplift bracket # 55630, and, for sway control, the dual cam high-performance sway control # RP26002. I have sent you a link to a video of the dual cam high-performance sway control for you to check out.

I am also including links to the installation instructions for these parts for your reference, as well as a helpful article about how to determine trailer tongue weight.
