Brake Controller and Adapter Harness for 2010 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited
Question:
I have a 2010 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited with factory hitch and trailer wiring 7 pin . I need to install a brake controller. I think the Tekonsha Prodigy 2 would be great for an install but was wondering if there was an easy plug in harness available? If not how would the wiring be for my particular install. Pulling a 2004 Starcraft M-11RT with a GWVR of 3500 lbs. Thanks

The Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake Controller # 90885 is an excellent choice; this is among the most reliable and popular units we offer. Since your 2010 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited does not have a quick-connect brake controller port under the dash your application will be a hard-wired installation.
The P2 comes with a 4-wire pigtail wiring harness. You will connect the 4 wires as follows: white connects to the battery ground terminal; the black wire connects to the battery positive terminal through a circuit breaker; the red wire connects to the cold side of the brake light switch (that carries voltage only when the brake pedal is pressed); the blue wire carries the controller's output signal to your trailer's electric brakes through the 7-way connector.
If you need a 7-way vehicle side connector you can use brake controller install kit # ETBC7, which includes wiring, connectors, circuit breakers and the 7-way blade-style socket. You need to have a working 4-pole in order to use the ETBC7; you can use TowReady # 118416 which plugs in at your tail lights without cutting or splicing wires. Please see the linked video and help article.
