Taillight Converter Recommendation to Install a 4-Way on a Vehicle with Separate Circuit Taillights

Question:

hello I have an old dodge truck with a separate light for turn and separate light for brakes. I am trying to wire it up for a four way flat trailer wiring. Issue is if i take the hot wire from the left turn and connect it with the hot wire from the left brake and then connect those two to the 4 way flat, i then have both lights blinking together and or stopping and staying on completely if I apply the brakes. Basically by connecting the two together I either have all lights including the right side all blinking at once. will part # 118158 help with this issue. I am basically trying to have a working 4 way flat wiring system whilst having individual brake and turn wires that when combined together dont function separately. Thoughts?

A taillight converter like the part # 118158 that you referenced would be exactly what you need.

For a product that would work even better as it comes with a 4-way already installed on the output side you would want the Curt Tail Light Converter # C56175. To see how it will wire to your vehicle check out the picture I attached.
