Can Power Wire from 4-Way Wiring Harness be Used for 12 Volt Circuit on 7-Way on 2010 Ford Escape
Question:
I will be installing the 118551 trailer wiring harness onto our Escape, including the power wire coming from the battery as in the instructions. I plan to ultimately install a 7 pin connector with a trailer brake controller. My question...can I utilize the power line from the batter to feed both the converter on the wiring harness and the power line to the 7 pin connector, or do I need to run two separate power lines from the battery?

No need to run 2 separate power wires. You can use the 12 volt power wire from wiring harness # 118551 for it and for the 7-Way when you install it. You just need to have the 40 amp circuit breaker for the 7-Way, # PK54540, installed in the right place.
The power wire goes from the battery, through the fuse holder and fuse, then back to the converter box. With the 7-Way installed have the power wire go from the battery, back to the converter, then tee off. One wire will go to the fuse and holder then to the converter. The other wire will go to the circuit breaker and on to the 7-Way.
The safest thing to do would be to run separate wires using the # ETBC7 kit. I have included some links that should help.
