If you have the factory 7-way connector on your 2008 ford F-150 FX4, the adapter you can use is part # 3035-P. Normally, Ford trucks come with an adapter that connects directly to the brake controller and all that is needed is the brake controller and the adapter that plugs directly to the truck. The plug is located on the driver side and behind the trim panel that is located below the steering wheel as the attached photo shows.
I have also attached a helpful article for brake controller installation on Ford trucks and also an installation video of a brake controller you can check out.
If you do not have a 7-way connector at the rear of your truck I recommend part # 37185. This will give you the 7-way connector you need to hook your trailer to. I have attached a photo that shows where the wires for this wiring adapter are connected to on your truck.
For a secure no-drill mount to hold your 7-way connector on your truck I recommend part # C57202.
I recommend using dielectric grease like part # 11755 when working on electrical connections. This keeps dirt and moisture out of the electrical connections and helps prevent corrosion.
If additional wire is needed when running the connectors I recommend part # 10-2-1. This is a jacketed 2 wire, 10 gauge wire that you can order by the foot.
