Brake Controller For 2007 Chevrolet Classic Silverado Z71
Question:
Good Morning, I have a 2007 Classic Chevrolet Z71 and am wanting to add an electric brake controller. Currently I am looking at the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 PN#90885. It is my understanding that I would also need a Plug-In wiring adapter PN#3015-P, is that correct? Also, is it possible to purchase another wiring adapter for a 2nd vehicle and move the Brake Controller from vehicle to vehicle? Thanks,

In 2007 General Motors quit offering the plug in type connectors on these vehicles with a factory tow package. You said you have the 2007 Chevrolet Classic Z71 so the only way to know for sure if the adapter will work for you would be for you to check under the dash to see if the junction box is there. I have attached a couple of photos that show where the junction box is and also where the adapter is plugged into if you have it on your truck.
If you have the factory 7-way connector at the rear of your 2007 Chevrolet Classic Z71, the Tekonsha P2 Brake Controller, part # 90885 is what I recommend. This controller is our most popular because it is easy to install and use.
The adapter to use with the brake controller on your truck is part # 3015-P. One end plugs into the back of the brake controller and the other end plugs into the junction under the dash. I have attached an installation video for a brake controller and the adapter on a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado you can check out.
If you do not have the junction box or plug for the adapter you can check out the attached helpful article for later model GM trucks and see how the brake controller needs to be installed. If you find you do not have the junction box you would not need the # 3015-P adapter.
If you let me know what your second vehicle is, I would be happy to see if we have an adapter available for that vehicle so you can move the P2 from one vehicle to another. If we do not have the adapter available, you can purchase a harness like part # 7894 we have that works with the P2, and hardwire it to the vehicle which would give you the plug for the brake controller.
I have attached a couple of helpful articles about brake controller installation you can check out.
