Parts Needed to Install a Brake Controller in a 2001 Chevy S-10 with a 4-Way
Question:
I just purchased a Prodigy p2 and bought the connector kit ETBC7. I have the four wire connection at the rear of my truck. I just noticed I have previously mounted bracket under the dash near the emergency brake. At the back of the bracket is a connector with about 16 ports on it, and wires in four of the ports. Could this be related to a previous brake controller. How could I test to find out. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

Expert Reply:
Since you only have a 4-way connection at the rear of your 2001 Chevy S-10 it is very unlikely you had a brake controller installed in your truck since that would have required a 7-way. You can test the 4 wires you found to determine if any have voltage all the time or when the brake pedal is applied and you could use those wires to install the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885, but that's pretty unlikely.
I would recommend you install the controller according to the instructions I attached. I can assure you that your brake controller will work.
