Troubleshooting Brake and Turn Signals Not Working on a Cargo Trailer
Question:
We have a cargo trailer that has lights but nothing else seems to work, no brake, turn or flashers. Everything works fine on the vehicle and the fuse on the tow output looks fine. any suggestions as to why we cant get the lights on the trailer for function.

Expert Reply:
It sounds like the grounds of light assemblies on your trailer aren't strong enough and the additional current required to illuminate the brighter circuit of your assemblies is too much for the current grounds.
Check the grounds and make sure they are attached to a clean metal surface, a lot of light assemblies ground through their mounting points. Make sure the lights are attached to a clean metal surface in this case.
I attached a couple helpful FAQ's that should help you further if needed.
