Question:
Hello Im trying to hook up a 7 pin trailer connector with a trailer break controller on my 1985 ford f250. It has no existing hook up or wires. My truck is old enough that it dosent have any quick plugs or anything so Im doing this from scratch. What I need from you guys is a list of parts that I need to buy to get this job done. If you can provide me with everything that I need Id appreciate it and will for sure buy them from you. Thanks in advance...

We have everything you need to install a 7-way trailer trailer connector and a brake controller on your 1985 Ford F-250.
The first item you will need is a 4-way flat trailer connector unless your truck already has one. For this, I recommend our 4-Pole Wiring Kit, # 18252. This harness will splice into your tail light circuits and provide power for the trailer lights.
Next, you will want our Universal 7-Way and 4-Way Installation Kit, # ETBC7. This kit provides a 7-way and 4-way trailer connector and all of the additional wire and hardware needed to install a brake controller. I have attached the installation instructions of this kit for you to check out. I have also attached an installation video for you on a 1991 Ford F-150 which will be similar to your F-250.
The final item that you will need is a brake controller. My personal favorite is the Tekonsha Prodigy P2, # 90885. I use this brake controller in my truck and it works great. The brake controller installation is also covered in the install video I attached. I have listed each of these parts below and they include all of the hardware needed to complete the installation. The only additional parts you may want are heat shrink wraps or electrical tape to seal the connections.
If you have any further questions on the installation, let me know and I will be happy to help.
