Location of Factory Connector for Trailer Wiring on 2006 Chevy Silverado 1500
Question:
I am having problems wiring a four way flat trialer connector to my truck. The turn signal & brake are the same bulb. 118384 does NOT plug into my truck. My truck is a plain 1500 work truck with no trialer provisions at all. Every harness plugs into a gray square plate under the truck on the drivers side.

Your truck should have a round connector located above the spare tire for the adapter (part # 118384) to plug into.
To locate the connector, you might have to lower the spare tire. The connector is usually zip tied to the rearmost cross member. The connector might have a protective cover over the end of it to keep road debris out of it.
Certain models might not have the plug, but the wiring harness should still be there. If this is the case with your vehicle, cut the plug off the end of the 118384 and connect the wires to the existing harness found above the spare tire. Connect the yellow wire on the 118384 to the yellow wire on the harness. Do the same with the brown and green wire. Ground the white wire found above the spare tire to the truck frame, along with the white wire from the 4-way.
