Trailer Wiring Harness Installation on 2004 Acura MDX
Question:
I am going to be installing a tow hitch on my 2004 Acura MDX. I have seen your videos and they are very helpful. I am curious however if there is a way to run the wiring harness so it is outside of the car all of the time instead of having to run it out of the cargo door every time you want to use it.

We offer three choices in a custom-fit (no-splicing) trailer wiring harness for your 2004 Acura MDX. All can be seen on the link provided, including the one I suggest, Tow Ready # 118336.
Each one includes a powered tail light converter box that generates the lighting signals for your trailer. These boxes are not designed to be exposed to the elements, but instead are intended to remain inside the vehicle where they are protected.
However, you may be able to find a wiring grommet or other open spot behind the driver-side lamp assembly that will allow you to pass the 4-pole connector down past the bumper.
