Parts Needed to Install a Brake Controller and 7-Way in a 2003 Chevy Express 3500
Question:
I bought a 16foot tandem axle trailer with brakes and I would like to know if my van is wired up from the factory with the necessary harnesses. I know that I have a 4 pin adapter already on the vehicle side. I see some other connections there but dont know what they are. My trailer has a 7 pin flat adapter. What would I have to do to properly get all of this going. And should I install a brake controller. Any advice or recommendations would be appreciated. I have included a couple photos. Thank you for your time.

It looks like your 2003 Chevy Van has an aftermarket 4-way installed on it for trailer wiring. In order to install a brake controller you will need to convert that 4-way to a 7-way. What you will need is a Brake Controller Installation kit 4-way to 7-way Kit part # ETBC7. I attached an install video and instructions for this product for you to check out also.
You will need a brake controller to activate the trailer brakes. The brake controller we recommend the most is the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is the best selling controller on the market because of how easy it is to setup and use, and how well it works.
