Erickson E-track Systems such as the 5-foot # E19148 can be installed with whatever fasteners best suit your mounting surface. Typically wood screws are used and this requires that the mounting surface have sufficient material depth for at least a 3/4-inch-long wood screw. Naturally, the more fasteners you use the better, and nuts/washers/bolts are better than wood screws. Riveting and welding are also options.
If you are looking for the highest possible capacity from any given piece of E-Track you should use all mounting holes, although commonly it is fine to use every other mounting hole. Try to get as many fasteners as possible mounted through the trailer frame for maximum strength.
According to my contact at Erickson each individual slot in any piece of E-Track is rated for 6000-lbs.
