How to Get a Replacement Key for Yakima Bike Rack
Question:
I lost the key to the lock that goes on the bolt that connects the bike rack to the hitch. The lock is locked and attached to the bolt. Will this key unlock the lock?

I contacted Yakima about getting replacement key for your bike rack. The representative at Yakima went over a few scenarios and options you have to get a replacement key.
First, if you have registered your key number with Yakima, you could call them and get a replacement key. Or if you have the key number that is stamped on the key written down, I can set you up with a replacement.
If the first option didn't work and since your box is locked, you will need to call a locksmith to have them pick one of the lock cores out. Then you can call Yakima and give them the key number that is labeled on the side of the lock core.
The change key part # Y8007835 that you referenced will only remove a lock core if the lock is unlocked.
