Differences Between Class II and III Hitches for 2012 Toyota Sienna
Question:
Hi, I am considering getting a hitch for my 2012 sienna. Obviously, i want to spend less. Can you please tell me the difference between the 1 1/4 inch and the 2 inch, beside the size : Why would i need one or the other? Why does one cost more? Thanks a lot!

The primary differences between the 1-1/4 inch and 2 inch receiver are the size and the capacity.
The Class III hitches for your Sienna have a 3500 lb towing/ 350 lb tongue weight capacity. The Class II hitches have the same towing capacity, but a lower tongue weight capacity, at 300 lbs.
We usually recommend going with the Class III if the choice is available. The 2 inch receiver opening used by the Class III hitch is more common, and therefore there is a better selection of hitch mounted accessories like bike racks and cargo carriers.
If you're simply looking for the most reasonably priced Class II hitch, the Draw-Tite Class II, part # 36513 would be a good choice. If you were planning on using the hitch for towing as well as for other accessories, the Curt Class III, part # C13105 is the most reasonably priced Class III hitch we offer. You'll need a ball mount kit like # 989900. You'd also need the trailer wiring harness, part # 118498.
