Broken Handle On Reese 15K 5th Wheel Hitch - What Are My Options For A Replacement?

Question:

I believe this is a Reese 15k 5th wheel. The slide handle on the side broke. I see where you can order just the handle but it says for the pro. Mine does not appear to have a cotter pin attaching handle or away to replace just part of the handle. Am I able to order the handle and the part that slides over and latches the hitch in? Or, am I going to have to replace the entire head assembly. If I am going to have to replace the entire head assembly is this 16k head a direct in that I could use without the head support. If I have to replace the head and head support would it work with the current legs I have? I am trying to get this fixed for as little as possible. Nothing wrong with the head assembly the handle just broke.

Hello Dustin. The Reese 15K 5th wheel hitch has been discontinued for quite some time, so replacement parts are going to be hard to come by. The Replacement Handel # 58055 is still available, but the other part of the handle, the actuating rod, is no longer made. The only solution will be to get a new head assembly. It is possible to get a new head that will work with the 15K legs. When Reese uprated their hitches the design stayed the same, so the 16K heads will be compatible, you just need to replace the crossmember support and the head unit. For that, the Pro Series 16K Fifth Wheel Head Assembly # PS30099 will be the compatible replacement.
