Recommended Sliding 5th Wheel Hitch for a B&W Turnoverball System
Question:
Question for you guys, you have always been great at awnsering my questions. I haveca 2018 gmc 2500 short bed and I have a hide a ball goose neck, I really like the bandw companion 5th wheel hitch and Im planning on buying, my question to you is, do i need the companion slider? Or can I use the non sliding model? I would be coming from a 16,000 lb husky slider that uses rails, but I will be getting rid of the rails. Can you please share your insight. Thank you........ Justin

Welcome back! Since your 2018 GMC Sierra 2500 already has the B&W Turnoverball System item # BWGNRK1016-5W installed, you are going to need the B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider item # BWRVK3400-5W. Without the slider you're not going to be able to make full turns and you're going to run into your trailer.
The fixed B&W Companion item # BWRVK3500-5W isn't going to give you enough clearance.
To make towing with a 5th wheel easier I recommend adding the Curt 5th Wheel/Gooseneck Custom Wiring Harness item # C56000. This harness puts a 7-way connector in the bed of your truck and allows you to keep the one on your bumper. This makes hooking up to your 5th wheel trailer easier and more convenient.
