Transmission Cooler for 2012 Subaru Outback 2.5i W/CVT Transmission.
Question:
For Occasional Towing, do you recommend a Trans. Oil Cooler for this Vehicle?

Helpful Expert Reply:
If the CVT transmission has cooling lines running from the transmission to the radiator (some do, some don't), you can install a transmission cooler. A transmission cooler is an effective and inexpensive insurance policy for your transmission, especially if the trailer you'll be towing is close to the towing capacity of the vehicle or if you'll be towing in mountainous or hilly terrain.
If your transmission does have lines, we recommend getting the biggest cooler that will fit in the available space. The best spot to install a cooler is directly behind the grille, in front of the radiator or A/C condenser. The Derale # D12906 you looked at would work, assuming it will fit. If your available space won't accommodate the 13x7-1/2 inch dimension of the # D12906, you could go with a smaller, yet more efficient cooler like # D13502.
