Recommendation for Largest Aluminum Folding Cargo Carrier and Waterproof Bag
Question:
killer website, thx for all the information! i am looking for the largest aluminum folding cargo carrier you have, the largest waterproof bag to go with it, and your recommended straps. anything else? it looks like the curt is the way to go, but am worried about the height of the sides, why the hell would they make them so short? i have a 2012 bmw x5. any guidance or recommendations much appreciated.

Thanks! We work very hard to keep a killer website and I'm glad that you found it helpful.
The 19x60 Curt Cargo Carrier, # C18100, is a great option. This carrier is constructed of durable aluminum making it light weight and rustproof.
For added convenience, this carrier folds up and out of the way when not in use. I recommend that you take a couple measurements on your 2012 BMX X5 to make sure that the carrier will clear the rear bumper when using the folding feature. Measure from the center of the hitch pin hole on the vehicle straight back to the distance required to clear the rear bumper on the X5. If that measurement is less than 5 inches, the carrier will clear the bumper when folded.
Using a locking hitch pin like # e98880 on the carrier is a great idea to help deter theft.
Taller sides on the carrier would interfere with the ability to fold the carrier.
The Extra Large Cargo Bag, # 988501, is my personal recommendation for a weatherproof bag. This durable, soft sided, bag offers a lot of room and measures 59 inches long x 24 inches wide x 24 inches tall. Six tie down straps are included to secure the bag to the cargo carrier.
For added peace of mind, you could use cargo straps like # SR0701, in addition to the ones included to secure the cargo bag to the carrier.
