Will I Need To Enlarge Holes In Frame For The Curt C13383 On A 2022 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid

Question:

Just received my 13383 Curt Class 3 Trailer Hitch Receiver and getting ready to install on 2022 Pacifica Hybrid. On the instructions that came with the hitch it says that the mounting holes on the drivers side need to be elongated for the hybrid. Can you explain why the holes need elongating on the hybrid but not for the non hybrid. Is there any way around having to elongate the holes? Note that the hitch is only going to be used for a bike rack, not towing, so it is an overkill in terms of strength. Thanks

Hello Tim. For the Curt # C13383 hitch, there is a chance you will need to enlarge the holes for both Hybrid and non hybrid models. It completely depends on the size of the holes in the frame rail. There can be some variances in the size of these holes. Some of the newer hybrid models have been noted to have smaller holes than other models, but this is not true 100% of the time. This is why we state you MAY have to enlarge holes. The verbiage in the Curt instructions make things seem more concrete which is not exactly true. The # C13383 uses a 1" spacer so depending on the size of the hole you may not need to modify anything, but enlarging the holes can make fishing bolts thru the frame much easier

Thanks, I enlarged them because was not sure if it would be needed or not but turns out the holes in the frame were not. The unexpected bit was getting the carbon canister to fit afterward. That took some improvising and the Curt instructions could be better in that regard.
