Tekonsha Prodigy P2 # 90885 Brake Controller Installation in 2012 Ford E-350 Van
Question:
Warning instructions that came with my recently purchased from eTrailer Prodigy P2 specifically state not to connect the red wire to a Ford brake pedal wire warning sheet says red with green stripe that shorts to ground when the pedal is not depressed and carries 12v as it should when depressed. The warning sheet notes that doing so will destroy the unit when the Manual control lever is actuated. My 2012 E-350 does not have a red wire with green stripe, but it does have a purple wire, just like the one you show connected via the 3034 plug/harness, to the red Tekonsha wire in your 2012 Ford Van installation video. Did your P2 control actually work after it was installed or did it get destroyed by the wire shorting to ground? Was the subject van actually used or tested after the install.

My technical contact at Tekonsha advises that your 2012 Ford E-350 should have a connector located behind the dash that can be used either with the quick-connect brake controller adapter # 3034-P to to access the brake switch signal wire by testing.
The connector should be behind a pocket behind the coin tray in the center console. Here you can plug in the # 3034-P harness (or use a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to find the one wire that carries voltage only when the brake pedal is pressed to allow for hard-wired installation).
